Scientific name: Ipomoea tricolor, common name - flying saucer. HEAT ADVISORY:During the hottest months, your plant's leaves will probably die in the box. Expect to get a greenish purple stick in the mail. However, this is nothing to be worried about. As long as the roots arrive moist, the plant is very healthy. Once you plant it, all the leaves will come back quickly. This flower color is very random. Pretend you are tossing azure paint on a spinning white canvas while wearing a blindfold. You'll have anything from pure white (because you missed), or a white background that is specked in a haze of blue (you lost your balance and tripped as you threw), or dark blue streaks and lines that radiate from the center (you hit dead center). Either way, each beautiful flower is unique and it's a daily mystery how they'll decorate your backyard. An easy, drought-tolerant plant that provides a beautiful backdrop for hummingbirds, butterflies, and those fat pollinating bumbles. Loves to climb on fences or trellises. An annual in cooler zones, this self-seeding plant tends to come back year after a year, regardless. This particular variety of variegated morning glory starts flowering in late summer and through the fall. Flowers open in the morning and early afternoon, but will bloom all day in overcast weather. Pairs beautifully with white Moonflower Morning Glory, which blooms in the evening (night garden!), and purple Grandpa Ott Morning Glory, which blooms in the afternoon. Plants arrive short and older ones are clipped. If I don't keep them trimmed, they will wind, clench, and choke each other in the trays I grow them in. They are the type of vine that will need to climb on a structure you provide them. Please see the photo to get an idea of how big they are when they arrive; but don't worry, they do grow quickly. If you have any issues with how your plant arrives, please message me within 48 hours.
