• You will first need to install your hinge... drill press will make things A LOT easier. After hinge installation, you'll need the door (and hinges installed) to figure out the location of the plate (where the hinge will attach to). 1. used an awl to mark and then drilled several perfectly or Grab a pencil. 2. Open the hinge and put the door right next to the cabinet in the opened position (as if the door is opened 90 degrees). You will now see where the plate needs to go.
• 3. Mark the location of the hinge (and thus plate) on the cabinet. You can either mark the top and bottom of the hinge where it meets the cabinet, or just draw a horizontal line where the middle of the hinge is located. 4. Use the template and drill 2 holes... it depends on which type of plate you're using (regular versus inline versus others), so you'll need to figure out the location of the holes. The template will make a small dent in your cabinet but that will secure it and not let it move while you drill.
