- COMPOSITION | Orenburg Black clay comes from the Orenburg region which is primarily to the south-west of the Ural Mountains, the continental divide between Europe and Asia. Orenburg Black clay is composed of alumina, magnesium, zinc, iron and sulphur. However, due to its partially volcanic origin, the volcanic ash present in the clay is said to contribute to its colour and slightly softer texture.
- TEXTURE & FORM | Our Orenburg Black clay is the perfect balance of earthy, velvety and somewhat dusty. However, it’s also very smooth and almost creamy to the touch. It feels and looks almost malleable on the surface, and is quite soft in geological terms. It can be broken by hand with little effort. The earthy and gentle feel of the clay is very pleasant and has a primal quality. It has a mild and natural odour of nature and pristine purity.
